Day Three

Movement

Red Group

Morning

The third day at cardigan started much the same as the rest except for the fact that we all new that this was the last day, this evening we would be saying goodbye and heading back to our busy lives. The morning started much the same as the other two except this morning we had zero food waste! Which means that we learned a lot because on the first night we had lots of food waste. After breakfast we split off into our groups and today we were takeing a mile hike to welton falls. This is an example of movement because we are physicaly moving our bodies to Welton falls. Just a short while in we stopped to sketch at a cool spot in the river were the riverbed was basically one big rock. The river that we stopped at is an example of movement because the water is constantly moving. Afterwards, we hiked to the river crossing where we stopped and took a break and play zen numbers. The way that you play zen numbers is that your group has to count to however many people are in your group, the problem is there is no assigned numbers so if somebody says a number at the same time you have to start over. Once we were past the river crossing there was just a little walk to the falls. Soon we reached the falls, which were absolutely beautiful and breathtaking especially the cliff/cave that looked right over the falls.

Afternoon

Once at the falls we decided to finally sit down and have lunch. Right after lunch Andy decided to instead of just give us the cookies that all the educators had gotten that morning he would torture us with the cookie olympics. The first activity of the cookie olympics was that we had to take all of the chocolate chips out of our cookies which completely ruined the taste of the cookie. The next part of the cookie olympics was that you had to leave your cookie flat on your palm and turn it all the way around you without moving your feet or letting your cookie fall off your hand. This activity proved to be much easier and did not ruin the taste of the cookie. Succeeding the cookie olympics we started out on the hike back to the lodge. Surprisingly, once we reached the river Andy announced that we were going to do solo hikes which is when you send everybody at minute intervals so everybody walks alone for about 15 minutes. I was the last person from my group to go and at first I was nervous to walk in the woods by myself, but it was actually really fun and relaxing. This hike back is again an example of movement because no only are we moving our bodies back we are also bringing back a new insight on rivers, beauty, and waterfalls. Soon, we reached the lodge and saw some of the other groups already there waiting for the bus to arrive. Around 20 minutes later when all of the other groups had reached the lodge it was time to return to our busy lives. This is an example of movement, both physicaly speaking and metaphoricaly speaking. The physical part is obvious, the students physicaly returning to HMHS. The metaphoric one is about us bringingh back new ideas to our home. Such as a lot more information about the environment, eachother, hiking, and the AMC lodge in general.
